Mustang Sall ( Sir Macraice) is simple, dignified and effective, Modern Blues Band refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Thrill is Gone (Robert Howkins) is a bit of a show-tune. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on [2003] The Reverse Side of the Blues is Got My Mojo Working (Muddy Waters). From the moment you listen to Someday After a While ( Freddy King, Sonny Thompson) you’re hooked. Boogie ( Gia Dzagnidze) sets the tone for the entire album. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. I’m Torn Down (Sonny Thompson) is a good listen every once in a while. Strong, powerful vocals of Modern Blues Band in Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight (James Taylor) are very impressive. Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out (Jimmie Cox) is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through [2003] The Reverse Side of the Blues. Stormy Monday Blues (T. Bone Walker) rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Simple and heartfelt closing track |title closes [2003] The Reverse Side of the Blues on a high note. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. This track is just fantastic from start to finish.
