First time I heard You’ve Got To Drink The Froth To Get The Beer was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Mad Jack’s Cockatoo is probably one of Slim Dusty’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. My Pal Alcohol is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Blew our minds when we first heard Whiskey Blues. Pay Day At The Pub is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Old Bush Barbeque is a striking and quite long song. Listening to Three Rivers Hotel you can hear that Slim Dusty has still amazing chemistry with band members. The Boxing Kangaroo is a medium tempo tune. Born With An Endless Thirst stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. The sound of Joe Maguire’s Pub is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Best song on the album, love it. I listened to the opening track The Pubs Still Make A Quid and liked it a lot. The Pub That Doesn’t Sell Beer is really the reason why I recommend buying Beer Drinking Songs of Austrailia. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Callaghan’s Hotel - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Slim Dusty. Duncan is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. A fantastic track full of wonder.
